At Mumbai Airport, Therapy Dogs Were Recruited For a Special Job. What is it?

Airport recruits trained therapy dogs to bring a smile on passenger’s face

Mumbai Therapy dogRecently two trained therapy dogs were brought in to help ease the stress of travelling at Mumbai airport’s international departure terminal T 2.

Mumbai airport is possibly the first in the country to employ trained dogs that would ease travelers’ anxieties about returning to the skies.  Earlier therapy dogs were used to comfort special children and traumatized adults at US airports after the 9/11 attacks.

Their mission is to put a smile on every passenger’s face they interact with.

This what a Chicago-bound flier who came to bury his late mother wrote in the feedback form:

“What an amazing and needed facet of airports.  After a long painful day at the Mumbai airport, Goldie and Pepe brought ‘humanity’ into an otherwise dehumanizing experience.”

Of course, not everyone is a dog lover.  Some people would feel less stressed at an airport if they could cuddle with a cat or even a play with a rabbit.

Mumbai airport spokesman said – “If a large number of travelers’ take a liking to the service then the airport operator should have more therapy dogs.”
